Home Affairs minister Edgar Lungu has apologised to Lundazi Catholic Parish priest Fr Viateur Banyangandora who he deported last year for having criticised the PF government.
A Lundazi parish priest Father Evans Sakala explained that Lungu went to the Parish to offer his apologies during homily marked to celebrate Easter.
Father Sakala said Lungu went to the parish and introduced himself before apologizing to the priest whose deportation was recently cancelled.
“He identified himself as the minister who deported him and t I am the hat he had gone to offer his apologies. He said since it was Eater period, it was time for him and father Banyangandora to reconcile and open a new chapter,” Father Sakala said.
He said the minister encouraged the priest to continue with his pastoral work freely and without fear.
Last year in August, the PF government deported Fr Banyangandora over a sermon which the minister described as inciting the people to rise against it.
The government later revoked the deportation order after much protest by the Catholic Church.
