A statement from the Anti Corruption Commission has implicated President Michael Sata’s confidant, Clement Andeleki, in corruption allegations which have landed a male nurse in jail.
According to the statement by Anti Corruption Commission acting spokesperson Queen Chibwe, Andeleki bribed Liywali Kashweka with K300, 000 (KR300.00) to produce a medical report.
“Details of the offence are that Kashweka, on 2nd June 2011 corruptly solicited for and actually received K300, 000 (KR300) from Clement Andeleki as an inducement or reward for Kashweka to facilitate the issuance of a medical report for a certain Ochiwe Muchuzi, contrary to Section 19 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 38 of 2010,” reads the statement in part.

NURSE CONVICTED OF CORRUPT PRACTICES
The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a male nurse at the University Teaching Hospital to 18 months imprisonment for corrupt practices involving K300, 000 (KR 300).
Lusaka Magistrate Lameck Ng’ambi found Liywali Kashweka guilty of corrupt practices by Public Officer contrary to the Laws of Zambia and sentenced him to 18 Months with hard labour with effect from the conviction date, 26th March 2013.
Details of the offence are that Kashweka, on 2nd June 2011 corruptly solicited for and actually received K300, 000 (KR300) from Clement Andeleki as an inducement or reward for Kashweka to facilitate the issuance of a medical report for a certain Ochiwe Muchuzi, contrary to Section 19 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 38 of 2010.
Kashweka was arrested after a tip-off led Anti-Corruption Commission Officers to the scene.
Corruption is a serious offence and the Anti-Corruption Commission wishes to appeal to all Public officers to desist from engaging in corrupt practices, but instead strive to promote integrity, transparency and accountability within their institutions.
