Luanshya residents on Friday burnt to death a thief whom they caught stealing.
Copperbelt Province police commissioner Mary Tembo has confirmed the incident saying others fled with goods worth over K23 million after robbing a shop.
Tembo said the thieves attacked Watiakeni General Dealers then shot one of the workers Goodson Kabaso in the leg and Ruth Banda was left with minor injuries after the shop attendants were resisting giving away some shop items.
She said after robbing the shop, alert residents gave chase until they managed to catch one of the robbers who were armed with an AK-47 riffle. The mob then descended on the robber and set him ablaze in full view of the public.
Tembo said police have since recovered the firearm and Kabaso who was wounded is undergoing treatment at Thompson Hospital.
