Coming to the end of a five-day visit to Japan, Zambian President Michael Sata has described his meetings successful and yielding positive results.
According to ZANIS the President was speaking in an interview with Zambian journalists at Prince Sapporo hotel on the island of Hokkaido shortly before his departure for South Korea.
Mr. Sata said his visit to Japan has been impressive and successful.
And Foreign Affairs Minister Given Lubinda said President Sata’s visit to Japan has yielded positive results for Zambia.
Mr. Lubinda said Zambia managed to secure a lot of investment pledges from the Japanese.
He disclosed that Zambia also managed to clinch a deal with Japan’s top university in which Zambians will be offered undergraduate scholarships to study in veterinary medicine.
The Foreign Affairs Minister said Hokkaido University has offered to provide scholarships to young people in Zambia to study veterinary medicine.
During his working visit to Japan, President Sata met the Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko as well as that country’s Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda.
The President’s visit has culminated into the signing of a US$41.77 million loan agreement with the Japanese government for the financing of the construction of the Kazungula bridge project.
Meanwhile, President Sata has left Japan for South Korea.
He is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Given Lubinda, Tourism Minister Sylvia Masebo and Agriculture Minister Emmanuel Chenda.
