President Michael Sata has sent a message of grief and condolences to the families of the sixteen (17) people who died in a road traffic accident involving a minibus which collided with a truck along Kabwe Road near Ibis Gardens in Chisamba Tuesday morning.
In his message, President Sata says he is immensely saddened by the loss of more innocent and precious lives in yet another road traffic accident involving public transport on the same road.
President Sata has described as heartbreaking the loss of life in the accident.
He says nation shares the pains and sorrow of the families of the victims; and prays that God will grant the bereaved families comfort and strength during this extremely painful period.
President Sata has since directed the Zambia Police Service and the Road Traffic and Safety Agency (RTSA) to promptly ascertain what exactly occurred and consequently ensure that the law takes its course.
The Head of State has called for urgent practical interventions to be undertaken to avert the continuous loss of innocent lives on the roads.
The Head of State wished the injured passengers a speedy recovery.
