The United States government says it is pleased with the pace of the Zambian government towards the enactment of the Freedom of Information bill.
U.S Ambassador to Zambia Mark Storella says there is need for all media practitioners and the general public to exercise patience and see how best the government will handle the Freedom of Information bill.
Ambassador Storella has also pointed out that though the process would take long, media practitioners in Zambia should prove that they are willing to give in their best and adhere to the ethics of journalism without stepping out of their boundaries of reporting.
Ambassador Storella adds that the there is need for the media in Zambia report on factual issues affecting the country other than basing their stories on rumors or hearsay.
He has since wished all media personnel in the country a happy press freedom as they commemorate World Press Freedom day today.
