guy-scott-zambia-reportsA political scientist has observed that there is need for Republican Vice President Guy Scott to do damage control to the South African government following remarks referring its citizens as “backward” and likening President Jacob Zuma to former apartheid leader FW De Clerk.

Dr Alex Ng’oma says if it’s true that the Vice President uttered remarks attributed to him as quoted in the media and has annoyed South Africans prompting the summoning of Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, there is need for damage control.

He explains that it is also important for the nation to know what context the Vice President had made the alleged statement.

According to Qfm, Dr Ngoma points out that the damage control would polish up the image that has been portrayed of him.

He however claims that the statement by the Vice President cannot in any way affect the bilateral ties that Zambia and South Africa have enjoyed since independence.

Dr Ngoma adds that one individual would not destroy the strong bilateral ties the two countries enjoy.
