The ruling Patriotic Front party is already campaigning heavily in Feira preparing for the upcoming elections.
Minister of Justice Wynter Kabimba was doing the rounds in Kafulafuta over the weekend, disbursing gifts and checks to a numer local PF-aligned groups and cadres.
Meanwhile, Gender and Development Minister Josephine Limataa also made a visit to the area, including in Luangwa District, where she has been holding conferences at a number of women’s issues forums.
However, according to sources accompanying the PF on the campaign trail, the meetings at these organisations are just serving as cover for large cash donations.
Minister Limataa has allegedly been seen giving our checks in the value of 69,000 Kwacha rebased (almost $14,000.00) to selected women’s groups in an action that opposition members have described as advance vote buying.
Luangwa has been a political hotbed ever since former MMD parliamentarian Patrick Ngoma crossed over to the Patriotic Front, setting the stage for one of numerous By-Elections.
