ZRAZambia Revenue Authorities workers have gone on a nationwide strike demanding a 20 percent salary increment.

The workers have ground work saying the 12 percent being offered by management was a mockery.

Workers opted to sit out the morning sun basking and chanting anti management slogans “more money in the pockets” anthems.

Management has refused to up their offer prompting workers to go on an indefinite strike.

Zambia Revenue Authority Union General Secretary Shadreck Kalunga said the strike was indefinite and the workers will not budge until their demands had been met.

He said the prices of commodities had been going up and that workers could not accept the 12 percent increment as it did not reflect the prevailing economic conditions in the country.

The level of discontent among the ordinary citizenry is rising following the widespread increase in prices of goods and services.

So far fuel, bus fares and mealie are some of the touchy issues that have engulfed the usually quiet country.
