UNZA Students in BlackOpposition United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema is this morning set to hold a press bring at which he will order the release of University of Zambia students arrested in yesterday’s protest.

Students were protesting over the removal of subsidies on mealie meal and fuel which has unbearable effect on the cost of living.

President Michael Sata accused Hichilema of funding the students to fan confusion at UNZA and the opposition leader will address the outbursts this morning.

“I will be addressing the press tomorrow starting at 9 at the secretariat. The country is in pain, we need to work together. It starts like this, a President issues an order to curtail freedom of expression. What next?” Hichilema said.

UNZA students are joined by Copperbelt University and Mulungushi University students along Great East Road in the protests.

Police are firing gunshots and setting the learning institutions ablaze in their overzealous bid to quell the fracas.
