The Millers Association of Zambia says it has given its members the green light to increase prices as they deem fit.
Association president Allan Sakala said they had allowed their members leeway to increase prices as some of them were buying maize at exorbitant prices.
“We have allowed our members to increase prices because they are buying maize at a different prices and bearing in mind varying production costs so each miller determines their own cost of production so they can increase, reduce or maintain the price as they see fit,” Sakala said.
“We are meeting with governement on June 2 to agree on certain areas.”
