GBM Vs Wynter: Genuine Corruption Fight or Hidden Agenda?

For over two weeks now the PF leadership has endured a punch-for-punch showdown between defence minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba and his justice counterpart Wynter Kabimba coated in some anti-corruption fight.

This fight between GBM as Mwamba is popularly known and Kabimba has, certainly, very little if anything to do with the zero tolerance against corruption.

It’s all about who should call the shots in PF and in an event President Michael Sata is incapacitated anytime, as most senior members of the ruling party anticipate, who will take over the instruments of power.

This is where the battle lies – not the corruption allegations Wynter and his backers, The Post – are  claiming is the centre of this clash.

Wynter is seemingly getting the blessing of President Michael Sata to alienate GBM, the man who put his business and his finances at risk, in the run up to the 2011 elections funding most of PF projects and campaigns.

The former Lusaka City Council town clerk claims through his image builders, The Post, that his fight with GBM is on principle. What principle is Wynter talking about? Did he listen to himself when he was confirming there is a leadership crisis in the PF?

Kabimba told The PF aligned Post; “It’s a difference of principle and on that principle there is no compromise; between those that want to serve their pockets, to line up their pockets and those of us who want to line up the pockets of the Zambian people, there is no compromise! The people of Zambia must make the correct judgment.”

Yes, the people of Zambia must make the correct decision. Of course, not the decision they made when they ushered a power hungry group of money mongers like Wynter, M’membe, Mutembo Nchito and their dummy Sata.

Wynter, GBM, M’membe and Sata ran a deceptive campaign. They hoodwinked Zambians into believing theirs was a promise that will deliver manner within 90 days. Nay! It has been a serious disaster that has now turned into a nasty leadership fight.

After over 365 days, the PF leadership is much more pre-occupied with power struggles than solving the many problems afflicting the country.

While Zambians are being sliced by Chinese ‘infestors’, the Barotseland Agreement of 1964 is burning, there is no money in people’s pockets, there are no jobs for the majority of youths, Wynter, GBM and Fred M’membe are fighting for President Sata’s position. Is this the correct decision Wynter is saying Zambians made by voting liars like himself?

As if talking to toddlers, Wynter claims; “The intention of the President was that those of us that have been appointed to join his Cabinet have come to share his vision to serve the people of this country. And that type of service means that we should make a sacrifice which the President himself has taken.” What sacrifice is this pack of PF scavengers making?

Where was Wynter’s sacrifice when his President was making adjustments to his salary at midnight instead of finding a way of putting that same money into people’s pockets?

There is certainly no sacrifice Wynter and his colleagues in PF are making because by now it is clear to see that there is a huge problem in the PF leadership.

Wynter himself, just like GBM and those singing the ant-corruption song, are not as clean as they want to come out. They are evidently throwing stones in public to show their true corrupt colours.

Firstly, The Post decided to clean Wynter of the corruption allegations and later it brings him out with a statement to talk about principles. Whatever these principles Wynter is preaching, they will not be as saleable as the fake 90-day promise.

On one end, The Post – which has assumed the official mouthpiece position of the PF government – is telling us GBM is ‘dirty’ and Wynter is ‘clean’ on the allegations of corruption, on the other end, the ACC claims investigations are progressing well.

If The Post had cleared Wynter last week quoting sources in the ACC, why should it take anymore time, for the government agency to state the position and devise the way forward?

These are calculated investigations meant for window dressing and nothing else. One thing for sure is that the fight between GBM and Wynter is beyond these corruptions allegations. That is why GBM was recently warning M’membe that he knows his game. No doubt, the chickens are coming to town to roast.

There is credible information that Wynter, GBM, M’membe and the PF top leadership are aware of President Sata and 2016. This is information the public does not know. But it is the genesis of this so called corruption clash between PF heavyweights.

And the preparations for those that want to cling on to power within the PF have started in earnest. They want by the time the announcement is made, they will ready to hopefully take over from President Sata.

Whatever the outcome of the so called investigations linked to Wynter and GBM, the PF leadership and its surrogates should stop fooling the Zambian populations.

These corruptions allegations about their leaders did not start yesterday or two weeks ago when The Post reported about them.

GBM has been linked to several government contract, Wynter is also benefiting a great deal through kick-backs and presidential appointments while The Post has been awarded single-sourced contracts to print the draft constitution, transport various material and supply goods and services to government to mention a few.

It is, therefore, naïve to believe that the PF government is fighting corruption when the detail in the devil surrounding the fight between GBM and Wynter has nothing to do with the so called “principle” but about who takes over from President Sata or has firmer control of the party leaders today and onward. That is the hidden agenda!
