misa-zambiaMedia bodies have blown the whistle on the continued harassment of journalists by Patriotic Front cadres.

Journalists have recently suffered beatings and harassment with Muvi Television journalists Kennedy Phiri and Francesca Banda beaten by PF cadres when they went to cover a land dispute.

Another Muvi TV staffer named as Ngege was among those beaten at the weekend when covering opposition United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema during a visit to the funeral house of those brutally murdered in the Kampasa land dispute.

On Monday, PF cadres had attempted to trek to the independent Daily Nation Newspaper but went cold on their planned move after their actions were preempted with security reinforcements.

MISA Zambia chairperson Nalumino Naluminoa has said the attacks were unfortunate and called on the government to bring the barbaric behaviour of its members to an end.

And National Restoration President Elias Chipimo said the image of the country had suffered from the persistent attacks on anybody not deemed to be in toll with the ruling party.

During a prayer meeting recently, PF cadres disrupted a gathering where they beat up congregants with a ZNBC cameraman having to need medical attention after his equipment unsettled the assailants.
