Kawambwa district council has misapplied K249 million meant for Constituency Development Fund – projects.
According to the latest constituency development funds audit report by the Auditor General the council is reported to have used the funds on the rehabilitation of civic center, bursaries and donation to an orphanage.
And the report has cited wasteful expenditure in Luapula province where about K89 million was spent on the implementation of four projects which were not in use even after completion.
Meanwhile, the audit report has shown that a total of K 20. 1 billion for Constituency development Projects remained untilised between 2011 and 2012 in Luapula province.
The report questions why the province received additional funding in 2012 when it had not exhausted its previous allocations for 2011.
