Senior Patriotic Front cadre Wllie Nsanda has responded angrily to criticism of his appointment as Road Development Agency chairperson by opposition leaders Elias Chipimo Jr and Mike Mulongoti.
Chipimo Jr, the leader of NAREP, and Mulongoti, a former works minister in the MMD government who campaigned for the PF in the September 2011 elections have both condemned President Michael Sata’s take over of RDA and the subsequent appointment of Willie Nsanda as its chairperson.
The two leaders are among many voices that are questioning the appointment of Nsanda and the take over of RDA by State House dimming it an attempt to use lucrative road deals for corrupt activities by the PF government.
But Nsanda, whose well known background is the rise from a call-boy at KMB in Kitwe to a businessman owning a fleet of buses, has come out strong in his defence.
The ‘thuggish’ Nsanda is quoted by the Zambian Eye describing Chipimo, who is in his late 40s, as a boy he did not know but was overrating himself while asking Mulongoti to stay clear of his appointment.
“Mulongoti and Chipimo (Jr) are Branch chairman material,” Nsanda charged. “They are not material for presidency. That Chipimo boy is overrating himself a lot. I don’t even know him. What has he done? All I know is his father. As for Mulongoti, I know he has done law,” he said.
Nsanda said he was competent enough and qualified to head the RDA.
He asked Mulongoti and Chipimo Jr. to first scrutinize the qualification of someone before opposition or questioning their suitability for the positions.
Nsanda explained that he has been dealing with earth movement equipment for a long time adding that he understands the road works very well contrary to the duo’s assertions.
