Nason-MsoniPolitical activist Nason Msoni says it is impossible to expect justice from the judiciary as long as acting Chief Lombe Chibesakunda remains at the helm.

Msoni said Chibesakunda’s allegiance was to the executive as they were the only ones who approves of her continued stay in office despite wide opposition from the wide spectrum of society.

“It is overly ambitious to expect true Justice when you put your faith and trust in the hands of an institution whose supervisor’s fate and future remains uncertain and hangs in the balance and is in the hands of the executive,” he said.

Msoni said it was common for members of the executive and low party functionaries of the ruling party to pre empty the judiciary.

“It is extremely difficult to exonerate the actions and decisions of the Judiciary going by the language of the executive and their party functionaries which also appears to reflect and parrot the wish and desire of the executive in the final determinations of their decisions,” he said.

“It should be shameful and embarrassing for the executive and the Judiciary themselves that an institution of Justice should have a misdirected parrot (Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba) and mouthpiece ready to cause maximum despondence and alarm in the nation with a pre-emptive precursor of the desired outcome and wish of the executive and is allowed to get away with it.”

He said it was difficult to see money being channeled into a judiciary that did not serve the interests of the general citizenry.

“It is prudent to consider shutting down the Judiciary and redirect the funds saved to other important areas of national need as they’re no longer fit for purpose,” he said.

“No one in their right frame of mind can confidently argue that the unfolding Injustice and chaos in the institution of Justice should continue unabated. You don’t need to be a victim of injustice before you realize how rotten our system has become under this administration.”

Chibesakunda’s appointment was overwhelmingly rejected by parliament but President Michael Sata has refused to let go of her Ladyship provoking angry reactions from the legal and civil society fraternity.

The Law Association of Zambia has threatened to take legal action against Chibesakunda if she does not step aside in a month.
