Young African Leaders say the Patriotic Front government’s obsession with commission of inquiries is costing the country valuable resources.
YALI executive director Andrew Ntewewe said none of the commissions set since the Patriotic Front government took over power has yielded any results.
“We hope that the newest inquiry to investigate two more judges will yield results because we are slowly losing count of the commissions of inquiry the PF has formed since coming to power and the results have not been seen,” he said.
“We have had several inquiries on the Barotse question, Zamtel, fuel with no tangible results we hope that for a change we can have results.”
He said the appointment of local judges showed that Zambia did not need Malawi judge Lovemore Chikopa to oversee the Judge Phillip Musonda and others tribunal.
“The appointment of Justice Mathew Ngulube and Frederick Chomba to head the two tribunals shows that we do not need Chikopa because the country has enough manpower,” Ntewewe said.
On Wednesday President Michael Sata appointed two tribunals to investigate Ndola judges Timothy Katenekwa and Emelia Sunkutu on allegations of professional misconduct.
