Home Affairs Deputy Minister Alfridah Kansembe says United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema was attacked by Patriotic Front cadres on his way to meeting Paramount Chief Chitimukulu because he does not understand Bemba culture.
Patriotic Front cadres in Kasama yesterday attacked Hichilema and his entourage as he was on his way to fulfill an appointment with Chief Chitimukulu.
But Kansembe justified the attack that the time was not right to visit Chitimukulu because the visit would be political.
“He was attacked because he does not understand Bemba culture the youths blocked him because it is not the right time to visit the chief as the visit would be political,” she said without clarifying.
On Monday Republican President Michael Sata said the Zambian intelligence system had done a commendable job infiltrating opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema.
