The Southern Africa Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes says the continued presence of state police at Chitimukulu’s Palace is worrying.
Executive Director Boniface Chembe said government should respect the autonomy of the traditional councils to run their affairs.
“Why have they deployed so many police officers at Chitimukulu’s Palace? Because what is the danger being posed by the Chitimukulu? Government should be clear on this matter,” he said.
Last week government deployed state police at Chitimukulu’s palace to prevent the installation of Henry Kanyanta Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.
