Mambwe District of Eastern Province has been hit by hunger with four chiefdoms critically hit.
District Commissioner Janet Palukani said there was urgent need to ferry relief food to the area to avert the fast deteriorating hunger situation in the area.
Palukani said she had made attempts to address the situation but the response was slow.
