The Alliance for a Better Zambia says the Patriotic Front has lost an opportunity to give Zambians a people driven constitution.
Commenting on President Michael Sata’s statement that the Zambian constitution only needed minor amendments as it was okay ABZ President Father Frank Bwalya said the PF had duped the Zambian people.
“The PF has lost an opportunity to give the Zambians a people driven constitution because they promised that they will give is a constitution in 90 days and they have completely failed to honour that promise,” he said.
“They have u-turned on a number of issues but their u-turn on the constitution is most appalling as they had promised the people of Zambia a people driven constitution.”
President Sata on Saturday said there was no need for Zambia to have a new constitution as the current one only needed amendments.
Zambia has been grappling with costly yet unsuccessful constitutional reforms from 1991and the PF seems to follow suit with the President’s declaration.
