Former Commerce Minister Felix Mutati has called for order in the import of fertilizer to ensure that food security does not suffer as a result of poor handling of input delivery.
The Lunte Constituency lawmaker observed that the Patriotic Front government had been casual in their approach to the agricultural issues.
“We need to improve in the manner we handle the import of fertilizer and other inputs because the way it has been done this year is less than impressive,” he said.
“The crop forecast for next year is low as a result of the manner input delivery has been handled. This year really has been chaotic and we really have to worry about the food security of our country.”
He said: “We should put in place mechanisms to ensure that delivery is on him.”
