Defence minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba was the surprise guest at the end of the 10 day candlelight ceremony against gender based violence.
Mwamba, who has confessed to wife battering, played his guest honour role cunningly winning over the largely female audience.
“I have been misunderstood as a wife batterer but I am a loving family man who has been misquoted by the press. I love my wife and children and would not want them beaten,” Mwamba said.
“I have been married to my wife for over thirty years and like in any marriage I can make a mistake and my wife can make a mistake. It is normal. So we need to fight Gender Based Violence.”
