Mobile phone service providers will suspend some services for customers who will not have their sim cards registered by December 31.
Transport and Communication Deputy Minister Panji Kaunda said that however no sim card will be deregistered on December 31.
Kaunda said subscribers will have a window of up to February 15 when their sim cards will be completely deregistered.
The Zambia Information and Communication Technology have set December 31 as the date for the registration of sim cards.
Kaunda said that 5,360,093 SIM cards were registered as at 16th December, 2013 out of a total of 10,343,527 mobile phone subscribers in the country as the December month end deadline approaches.
Colonel Kaunda said of the total registered SIM cards, 4,998,267 have been verified.
