Supporters of PF rival ministers Wynter Kabimba and Geoffrey Mwamba clashed on Saturday in Kasama as divisions in the leadership in the ruling party deepens.
Kabimba was in Kasama where GBM is member for parliament to officiate at the PF provincial conference for Northern Province.
The two first launched their battle through Kabimba’s backers at The Post by accusing GBM of corrupt activities before both of them landed into the hands of Anti Corruption of Zambia investigations.
It has now emerged the corruption allegations was the tip of the iceberg in a battle to succeed President Michael Sata in 2016 as it is unlikely the head of state will contest.
Reports confirm that sympathisers of justice minister Kabimba and his defence counterpart Mwamba clashed at Kasama Airport as the two camps offered solidarity messages.
Bitter words exchanged camps as Kabimba arrived and later appeared on a radio programme in Kasama.
Police also confiscated two trucks belonging to GBM ferrying his sympathizers.
Two drivers of ABV 2596 and ALB 4328 have were detained at Kasama Central Police station.
There has been heavy presence of police officers keeping vigil of the ongoing PF indaba which has been scene of lawlessness between the two camps.
During a ward by-election in Rufunsa, a PF cadre Crispine Menyani Zulu, one of the many ferried to the region died after internal wrangling emerged.
PF is one of the most violent parties in the country and its members are armed machetes and other weapons as the case was in Kasama, Rufunsa and Mufumbwe.
