Outspoken opposition Movement for Multi Party Democracy member Lucky Mulusa says he will re-contest his Solwezi Central seat when the date for the by-election is announced.
Mulusa, whose seat was recently nullified by the Lombe Chisekunda led Supreme Court, said he had consulted the electorate and had given him a go ahead to re-contest.
“I have been to Solwezi and consulted with the electorates and they are of the view that I re-contest. It not me desire but the people who are the ones that entrusted me with that responsibility still want me to continue,” he said.
“It is not about me but the people have guided me so I will oblige.”
Mulusa said he was hoping that opposition political parties would unite and rally behind the MMD who held the seat before it was nullified.
“It will be good if the opposition do not contest against each other like the way we supported the UPND in the Solwezi East seat and they won. If we contest against each other then the battle will be tougher,” he said.
Mulusa said he did not think that the K1, 000 donated to a church in 2011 could have affected the outcome of the election.
He said even at the polling district where the election was held he lost the vote.
The Patriotic Front has petitioned 33 MMD seats with a certainty of the seats being nullified in the Supreme Court even if the High Court okays the poll.
