Calls for the dismissed nurses to be re-instated have continued with the Council of Churches of Zambia being the latest to demand that the health workers be recalled.
Council of Churches of Zambia General Secretary Suzanne Matale said the nurses should be re-instated to avert the crisis in the health sector.
Matale said it was wrong for government officials that sought medical attention outside the country.
She said that government was pretending that the situation in hospitals was normal yet ordinary Zambians that endured the challenges knew how bad the situation.
Matale said the nurses had been trained at a great cost and needed to be made use of for the benefit of the country.
The Patriotic Front government has fired over 300 nurses who had gone on strike demanding better wages and a correction of anomalies in the pay structure.
