Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili and Luanshya Central Member of Parliament Stephen Chungu have gone head to head trading verbal blows over who wields more influence in the party.
Kambwili told a party New Year event in Luanshya that Chungu had been destabilizing the party in the province.
He said Chungu should be warned that the party was aware of late entrants that had come from the former ruling party the MMD and were creating confusion.
But Chungu said Kambwili was jealousy of his success in his constituency and would not be intimidated by the Roan MP’s threats.
Chungu said he would ask the Head of State if Kambwili was as powerful as he claimed.
“Let him leave us alone, he will not intimidate us and if he thinks threats will manage to intimidate us he is wrong,” Chungu said.
There have been rising cases of wrangling in the ruling party with the Wynter Kabimba and Geoffrey Mwamba contest having been the most high profile one.
