Alliance for a Better Zambia Vice President Patricia Mwashingwele says Father Frank Bwalya has been arrested for saying President Michael Sata is a difficult person who does not listen to advice.
Mwashingwele said it was strange that cadres had earned the right to harass people even in the presence of police.
“Fr Bwalya was actually arrested for describing President Sata as Chumbu munshololwa (literally sweet potato that if you try to straighten breaks). It means a person who does not listen to advice and is difficult,” she said.
“They called former President Levy Mwanawasa a cabbage, they called Rupiah Banda Nyamasoya no one was arrested. So what does it tell you about this government?”
She also called it a violation of human rights by the police against the outspoken priest.
PF cadres led by former Copperbelt youth chairperson Chanda Kabwe followed Fr Bwalya at Radio Mano where he was appearing on a live programme but was saved by police who ironically bundled him off air to the police station where he was detained after being charged with defamation of the president.
