(FILES) Michael Sata, opposition leaderPresident Michael Sata has earned himself in the ‘idiot of the week’ in South Africa’s top selling weekend newspaper – Sunday Times – for sending police officers to arrest opposition Alliance for a Better Zambia leader Father Frank Bwalya.

The newspaper names and shames political jokers in its popular Mampara section and you guessed right, President Sata’s is this weeks joke following an action that instantly went viral worldwide.

President Sata ordered the arrest of his former ally Fr Bwalya after he referred to him as a Chumbu Mushololwa – a person difficult to advise.

The South African publication writes; “MAMPARA of the Week; [Hard to Swallow] Michael Sata”

“A potato has landed a Catholic Priest in soup. It’s all part of the vichyssoise of Zambian politics that makes the president a mampara this week.

“Father Frank Bwalya, who heads the opposition Alliance for a Better Zambia, described President Sata as a sweet potato. It might even have been meant as a compliment and Bwalya might have believed he was out of hearing range, having mentioned it on a community radio station 1000 kilometres of Lusaka. But wars have ears and the mampara’s police stormed the studio before he’d finished speaking. Efficient police perhaps but ruthless mamparism.”
