Divisions in the Patriotic Front party in Northern Province over the resignation of Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba have deepened with a sponsored segment of the Provincial Executive Committee hurriedly drafting a suspension letter for the Kasama lawmaker.
The meeting is said to have been chaired by ACTING provincial chairman Chomba Chipili in league with secretary Everest Chellah.
“It’s evidenced that from the time you resigned as a Minister of Defence in the Patriotic Front government, you have never showed remorse or kept quiet or to respect his Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia Mr Chilufya Michael Sata, who you swore allegiance to,” reads an excerpt from the letter.
“You have from time to time been going round the constituency decampaigning the legitimately elected councillors from the same party that made you to be called honourable MP. It is proved beyond doubt that you were in Lukulu, Bululu and Lukupa wards decampaigning PF councillors.”
The letter further reads: “In view of the above, therefore, the provincial committee that sat on 14th January 2014 carefully studied your maneuvers that are bent on destroying the party. Therefore, we had no option but to suspend you from the party, unless and until your petition is determined by the national disciplinary committee and eventually the central committee.”
