fred-mmembeWe are not against any political pact, but our principle is simple, let us have political pacts based on issues and not positions and personalities. This is what led to the fall of the UPND/PF Pact. That was a lesson we learnt from the 2006 pact.

The UPND/PF Pact contrary to what Mmembe wrote in his Post that we approached PF for a pact, such a thing never happened. The pact was an initiative of prominent people who we cannot name here.

Those people have since come back to us and thanked us for the wisdom we saw in not proceeding with that Pact. Imagine PF without any opposition?

We agree with Milupi, lets not have pacts for the sake of pacts. For us our terms are simple, you want a pact, be ready to discuss these issues; economic management, education, health, agriculture and employment creation for the youth.

These are our priorities. Anything outside the issues above including power sharing deals are not part of the discussion. The reason is simple, we do not come into pacts to wrestle power from the sitting party. We want to make a difference for the Zambian people. This is why our change is called real change.

If you recall, the pact broke up because we could not agree on a development plan. People were preoccupied with positions, this is how when Prof Clive Chirwa wrote his THOUGHTS to Wynter Kabimba, without thinking, Kabimba went to the press saying we accept the proposals from our friends that they will take up the Vice Presidency.

What is a vice presidency without any effect on people’s livelihoods. The other parties can offer HH the position of God, as long as we don’t have an economic development plan, we shall decline.

The eminent people have since apologised, needlessly so, to the party for the kind of monster we would have created in the absence of any credible opposition.
