The state machinery has been unleashed on former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba and family with the police bombarding the Kasama lawmaker, his wife Chama and daughters Sibongile with individual summons.
Mwamba’s daughter Sibongile was the first to make an appearance today while her mother, Chama, and sister Thandiwe will be at the police station tomorrow with GBM making his appearance on Monday, February 10 in what is seen as a scheme to punish him for resigning his government portfolio.
The summons come barely four days after Mwamba sued The Post Newspaper over a story they admitted was fabricated against him.
Mwamba and The Post Newspaper are involved in a shadow boxing contest that has seen the formerly independent publication now turned ruling party mouthpiece publish what they say are government contracts granted to the former Defence Minister.
The Kasama lawmaker’s biggest crime may have been to take a different corner in the PF shady succession tussle by challenging the Post Newspaper’s preferred successor Wynter Kabimba.
Mwamba however says he is more than ready to face the police on Monday when he is due to be interrogated.
The police’s role in the investigation seems remote controlled as the Anti Corruption Commission last year announced that they had cleared GBM of any wrong doing over a contract to supply pole lines to power utility company Zesco.
