Northern Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe is at the centre of controversy in Katuba Constituency where he has popped up at two polling stations fanning violence.
At Chinkwankula Basic School, Sikazwe commandeered a bunch of PF cadres suspected to have been ferried from Lusaka and ordered them to fire shots in the air after his presence at the polling station raised commotion.
The lone police officer at the station was harassed as United Party for National Development cadres also retaliated after it became apparent that Sikazwe was in the area to intimidate voters.
National Restoration Party General Secretary Reverend Javan Kamanga confirmed Sikazwe’s moment of madness and said the act had instilled fear in the voters.
Earlier in the day Sikazwe had led a band of PF cadres in harassing UPND candidate Jonas Shakafuswa’s daughter who he accused of paying voters.
Seven political parties are contesting the Katuba seat that fell vacant following the death of incumbent Patrick Chikusu.
