Disappointed in the performance of some members of his government, today President Michael Sata told party members that they were “lucky” because no opposition party was capable of removing the ruling party from power.

In a meeting at State House with MPs and Cabinet members, President Sata said that some PF members “have done nothing since being elected into office,” and warned them against being reluctant.

“If there were any strong opposition in the country, the PF would be kicked out of power in 2016 because people had not yet seen the government deliver,” President Sata said.  However the Zambian head of state commented that “no opposition party would be able to remove the PF.”

President Sata’s comments come just days after a public incident in which he was booed by unemployed youths.  On Friday during the official opening of the 86th Agriculture and Commercial Show in Lusaka, hundreds of youths mobbed President Sata and demanded an explanation on his campaign promise.

The youths shouted at the Head of State in vernacular asking him where the jobs and more money he promised was, forcing President Sata to abandon the tour of exhibition stands.

The youths however remained resilient and followed President Sata to the pavilion shouting anti-government slogans.  Police later managed to drive the youths away as President Sata absconded in a government motorcade.
