MMD national secretary Major Richard Kachingwe has vowed not to leave the party amid speculations that he is planning to defect to the ruling Patriotic Front.
Briefing the press on Wednesday, Maj Kachingwe said anyone that want him out of the party should move him out with a crane and bull dozer for him to leave.
Maj Kachingwe dismissed speculations of being compromised after it was alleged that he had visited State House twice to seek an audience with President Sata so he can be offered a job.
He claimed that there were bad elements within the party that were trying to disturbilise the party but that they will not achieve what they wanted to do.
Zambia’s Health Sector Short of 20, 700 Nurses
Health minister Joseph Katema has disclosed that government needs about 20,700 nurses to enhance the efficient health care delivery in the country.
Dr Katemba said at a graduation ceremony for Chainama Hills Health College that currently, the country was only operating at 56 percent capacity in terms of health care professionals in the health sector.
He said there is need to train more health care professionals to meet the increased demand for people seek quality health care services.
First Lady Kaseba Decries Cervical Cancer Deaths
First lady Christine Kaseba says it is sad that women are still dying of cervical cancer despite a massive campaign that has been launched to enable them attend screening sessions.
Dr Kaseba said previously the government used to spend huge sums of money for cervical cancer treatment but that everything can be done locally. She hoped that the savings would be used to open more centres that can offer cervical cancer screening.
The first lady was speaking in Kitwe when she unveiled a cervical screening sentre centre named after at Wusakile Hospital. The centre was built by Mopani Copper Mine.
Hichilema Wants Minining Contracts Revised
UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has urged government to revise the long standing contracts with the mining firms for the supply of power.
Hichilema noted the contracts were too generous to the mining firms as they have been changed after signing them a long time ago.
He said it was important that the mining firms pay reasonable tariff more than the 6 percent they have been paying per annum.
Alleged Satanism at Kazungula School Raises Concern
Nachilinda Basic School in Kazungula district of Southern Province has expressed concern at the incidences of alleged Satanism practices.
The suspected Satanism practices have angered the community members who have called on the district education board to transfer the headmaster at the school who is suspected to be a Satanist.
But Siavonga District Education Board secretary Samson Sakala has said they were looking at how possible they can handle the situation at the school.
