The Chipata Diocese of the Catholic Church says it will use its structures in the Eastern Province to drive the fight for a new constitution.
Director of Communication for Chipata Diocese Father James Banda said the province had 390, 000 Catholics that will be mobilized in the fight for a new constitution.
He said people were anxious about the new constitution and hence the need to step up the demand for it.
“We will use our structures to fight for a new constitution. In Chipata Diocese we have 400 out stations, 2000 small Christian Communities with 36 parishes and 390, 000 members,” Fr Banda said.
“We will use these structures to sensitize the people on the need for a new constitution.”
The grand coalition on the new constitution has declared nationwide campaigns to press government to heed the people’s call on the constitution.
