Patriotic Front secretary general Wynter Kabimba’s sidekick Chanda Mfula has released a statement advising the MMD to resolve its wrangles.
This is despite the fact that President Michael Sata and the ruling party are bankrolling the Dora Siliya group to create confusion in the former ruling party by calling the resignation of Nevers Mumba as president.
Kabimba recently met MMD vice-presidents Dr Brian Chituwo and Mike Kaingu to strategise the downfall of the former ruling party.
After being exposed in the scheme to disorganise the MMD and gain advantage through splitting opposition unity, the PF is trying to sugar coat the situation.
In a statement, PF Media and Communication Director Chanda Mfula has observed that like the other former ruling party the United National Independence Party (UNIP), the MMD is indispensable from the political history, independence and development of the country.
Mfula says the MMD should quickly resolve its internal divisions as the death of the former ruling party is a direct threat to the very basis of the country’s multiparty system of governance.
He says being the largest opposition party with experience in government the MMD is also an integral part of the democratic system on which the country’s governance is based.
He says it is for this reason that the ruling PF believes that MMD leaders have a greater responsibility to save the party from extinction in the interest of the democratic fundamentals of the country.
The PF Media and Communication Director says his party is therefore urging MMD president Nevers Mumba to re-examine his stance of externalizing the problems of his party and address the real internal issues that threaten its existence.
He says Dr. Mumba may further wish to know that the PF is led by honorable men and women who recognize that the survival of the MMD is in the interest of the nation’s democracy and cannot put partisan interests ahead of such an issue.
Mfula further adds that the ruling PF desires to compete with a stronger and well led, managed and organized MMD on the political platform, bearing in mind that a very competitive political landscape is capable of producing the best quality leadership for the country’s continued development.
