A dispute has emerged over the purse money of newly crowned World Boxing Council Bantamweight female boxing champion Catherine Phiri with her family saying the K37, 000 paid to her was too little.
But the Zambia Professional Boxing Board of Control says Phiri should not have signed the contract if she was not happy.
However, her manager Christopher Malunga who has not denied paying her K37, 000 said the boxer got more than the reported amount and also received other additional perks like rentals for her house in Kabwata.
Malunga said Zambia was the second highest paying country for female boxers in Africa after South Africa.
Phiri beat German boxer Pia Mazelanik on March, 15 at the Government Complex to maintain her unbeaten record in her professional career.
