Forum for Democracy and Development president Edith Nawakwi says she is dismayed by police conduct to disrupt her party’s indoor meeting in Ndola.
Armed police officers on Wednesday attempted to disrupt a peacefully convened meeting at the FDD Ndola secretariat where Nawakwi was addressing party officials.
The officers who upon realizing that she would not budge called for re-enforcements besieging the peaceful officials that refused to give in to the act.
The officers had asked Nawakwi to accompany them to the police station but she refused and went ahead addressing the meeting.
Some Patriotic Front youths had also joined the police in trying to disrupt the meeting but upon realizing that they were outnumbered backed down and left.
Nawakwi advised the officers not to be used by politicians but follow the law.
The police officers had claimed that she had breached the Pubic Order Act by not notifying them that she was addressing a meeting.
Nawakwi is on the Copperbelt meeting party officials.
