The opposition United Party for National Development women says they will defend their president Hakainde Hichilema from unnecessary attacks from violent Patriotic Front cadres.
UPND women affairs chairperson Namakau Kabwiku said the women will be forced to hit back if the relentless attacks by PF cadres that has seen them bundle out ABZ leader Father Frank Bwalya from Flava Fm and Radio Mano with Hichilema and FDD leader Edith Nawakwi having their turn at the hands of PF abuse continues.
Kabwiku said the PF is reversing the long planted democratic tenets by their silencing any dissenting views.
“Why are they afraid of the opposition? We are in a democratic country and they must let us freely go out and sell our party manifestos for the people to choose which the right party to vote for is,” she said.
“That is what we want and if they continue to fight in this way, one day we will fight back. We will not be intimidated, we will not fear to stand up and fight.”
Patriotic Front cadres attacked UPND cadres who had provided a shield against their party leader who was appearing on Ndola’s Sun FM Radio.
