Forum for Democracy and Development, FDD, leader Edith Nawakwi has charged that the Zambia Police Service has been rendered ineffective due to the six thousand PF cadres that have been recruited in the service over the past two years.
And Nawakwi has called on President Micheal Sata to condemn the persistent violence that has characterized the country’s political landscape.
Nawakwi has also called on President Sata to cage and disarm the PF cadres that are perpetrating violence.
She told a media briefing in Lusaka that the political violence is as a result of the collective failure by political parties to embrace democracy.
Nawakwi has also suggested that the untrained officers should be trained and the untrained officers be immediately withdrawn from the police service.
Meanwhile, Nawakwi has described intentions by the UPND to arm its members with firearms as political naivety.
She notes that such intentions will just worsen the situation adding that the country risks going into an armed conflict.
