Republican Constitution says Zambians want nothing but a new constitution delivered before the 2016 elections.
Grand Coalition spokesperson MacDonald Chipenzi says Zambians expect the 2016 general elections to be held under a new republican constitution.
Chipenzi says the PF government ought to know by now that the people of Zambia want nothing from them but a new republican constitution.
Chipenzi says this is why some people are coming up with ideas that are not legally binding due to the desperation of having a new republican constitution, in an apparent reference to NAREP president Elias Chipimo’s proposal for an interim government to oversee the enactment of a new constitution.
He says statements by some government officials that the constitution will only be delivered in 2016 will not be entertained because Zambians want the constitution delivered before 2016.
Chipenzi has since urged government to expeditiously deliver the constitution.
