ADD MilupiAlliance for Democracy and Development president Charles Milupi says the opposition will be forced to field one candidate in the 2016 general elections if President Michael Sata does not deliver a people driven constitution by 2016.

Milupi said President Sata had continued to ignore their plea for dialogue despite writing a follow up letter to their request for a meeting.

He said the constitution had created a monster and that President Sata was feeling that he was the only one whose voice should be heard in Zambia.

“The current constitution has created a monster in the Presidency. The leaders of 16 opposition political parties are hopeful that President Sata will heed the call for dialogue although he has not responded to our letter and we even wrote another one,” he said.

“If the PF does not give Zambians a people driven constitution before the next elections we as opposition leaders will use the option of fielding one candidate because of the PF’s intransigence whose task when he or she wins will be to deliver a people driven constitution.

“We know that they can’t win if we went that route.”

Sixteen opposition political parties have written to President Sata requesting for a consultative meeting on the constitution but the Head of State has ignored their letters.
