Senior Members of the Patriotic Front (PF) trying to resolve the succession dispute between the anti-Wynter Kabimba and pro-Wynter Kabimba camps have now floated Dr. Rowland Msiska who is the Secretary to the Cabinet as a compromise candidate.
A senior member of the Patriotic Front Central Committee who declined to be identified for fear of reprisals has told the Zambia Reports in an exclusive interview that Dr. Rowland Msiska’s name has been floated as a compromise because he has links from both the Eastern and Northern parts of Zambia.
The source however says supporters of former Defense Minister Geofrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known as GBM have already started having reservations because they believe Msiska belongs to the pro Kabimba group.
“It is a fact that the President is not okay and he has told close friends and relatives that him and the vice President Guy Scot will retire in 2016,”
“This has triggered succession disputes and there are people who insist a Bemba should replace Sata while others say Kabimba. So senior members of the party whose names you may not even know have proposed a neutral name and that is Dr. Msiska but there is serious resistance from the Bemba grouping who are even proposing the name of Felix Mutati the MMD Lunte Member of Parliament,” the soutrce said.
The source said Dr. Msiska’s name comes after efforts to lure Lusaka Businessman Robinson Zulu owner of Meanwood Property Development failed.
“Initially the same group that has floated Msiska’s name wanted Robinson Zulu of Meanwood but Robinson has refused on several occasions saying he is a business man and not a politician. He says he can still contribute to national development in his capacity,” the source said.
