PatriceWorld Cup-bound Japan survived a first half scare to beat 2012 African champions Zambia 4-3 in an entertaining international friendly at Raymond James Stadium in Florida.

The Zambians were in a flavour of their own when they dominated the first half with a 2-1 lead.

Zambian captain Christopher Katongo led by example scoring after just minutes into the match with TP Mazembe midfielder Nathan Sinkala taking the tally to 2-0 on 28 minutes.

Japan reduced the arrears with a penalty through Keisuke Honda after defender Emmanuel Mbola handled in the box in what looked more to ball to hand.

The Samurai Blue came back with a lot more purpose when within a minute Honda and Kagawa scored to pick the lead at 3-2.

Substitute Lubambo Musonda scored for Zambia to make it 3-3 in the 88th minute but Japan left it for the last minute with Yoshita Okubo scoring the winner in the 89th minute.
