Dear Editor,
I am wondering why no one is giving sufficient coverage to the displaced people in Mindolo North. This is supposed to be the biggest story in Zambia right now. Pictures of the affected people would have such a huge impact on the story. You may not sympathize with the victims, but there is a better approach the story than the way these people have been treated. Empathy is the basis of a people-centered government, regardless of political affiliation.
Why can’t journalists ask the victims how they are coping? Are there people who have become sick as a result of sleeping outside in the cold? How are children surviving? Does anyone need medicine? Where are these people going next? You need to do something.
Also, can someone put this whole issue into context? There is no sufficient background information on these demolitions? Were these plots doled out by enemies of Mr. Sata?
I am only writing this to you because I suppose you’re a real news organization. I can’t send such an email to the Post, Times of Zambia, or the Daily Mail.
Deep Throat.
