Transparent International Zambia (TIZ) has condemned Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba for creating unnecessary confusion when he was called for interrogation at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) offices yesterday.
On Monday, Kabimba, who is PF general secretary, refused to be interrogated privately over the alleged bribes he received in pushing for a contract for Trafigura Oil saying it was a matter of public interest.
The ACC officers tried to reason with Kabimba but he insisted on being questioned in the presence of PF thugs that mobbed the ACC offices and created commotion with the blessing of Kabimba.
This comes barely a day after President Sata affirmed the PF commitment to fight against corruption.
President Sata promised that there will be no sacred cows and that every suspected corruption case will be dealt with severely according to the rule of law.
But Kabimba created a huge contradiction that leaves people questioning if government is serious in fighting corruption.
TIZ executive director Goodwell Lungu has said it was sad that Kabimba who is the custodian of the law in Zambia failed to respect a constitutional office of the ACC.
He said there is need for Kabimba to resolve his difference with the ACC and let the law take its course.
