The police in Chipata, Eastern Province have arrested five Patriotic Front cadres and charged them with conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
The cadres were demonstrating against the suspension of six party officials by party secretary general Wynter Kabimba when police pounced on them.
Confirming the matter, Eastern Province police commissioner Grace Chipalila said the cadres who were arrested this afternoon would appear in court soon.
Meanwhile police in Lusaka have arrested MMD youth leader Whitson Mtonga in connection with the harassment of major Richard Kachingwe.
Lusaka Province police commissioner Joyce Kasosa police arrested Mtonga yesterday and that he was being detained in police custody.
