The lukewarm Zambia Congress of Trade Unions has put through a half hearted condemnation of the two year wage freeze imposed by the Patriotic Front government.
Addressing a media briefing ZCTU President Leonard Hikaumba said that the wage freeze was illegal and should be lifted.
He said that the wage freeze was unreasonable in an environment where there were no price controls.
Hikaumba said the union would seek audience with government to consider revising their stance on the wage and recruitment freeze.
“We want to again condemn imposing the illegal wage freeze it has consequences on the standard of living in an environment where there are no price controls,” Hikaumba said.
